Community Newsletter - September 2024
Dear community member
September was a month of celebrations for many as we welcomed the Harvest Moon.
From big announcements to business awards and community events, I’ve been hard at work advocating for Parramatta.
With such a fast-growing, vibrant electorate, it’s important to have a state government that listens. Below is a snapshot of the past month. |

Let’s Go Greek Festival! It was so much fun attending the Let’s Go Greek Festival with our Minister for Multiculturalism, Steve Kamper (Σταύρος Καμπερογιάννης)
This year the weather was suburb ensuring festival attendance was bigger than ever. It was lovely to hear the students from Parramatta’s St Ioannis School perform, see traditional dances, experience the delicious food and soak up the atmosphere. |

Salvation Army Parramatta turns 140! The first Salvation Army meeting was held under a wooden bridge at Church and Argyle Streets, in 1884, with the son of the founders of the Salvationists, Colonel Ballington Booth, in attendance. Parramatta became Corps #75.
Open-air church meetings continued, with no dedicated building until January 1919.
140 years on and the Parramatta Salvos continue to provide community services via their cafe, weekly market day. Moneycare, food assistance and much much more. |
