Peninsula Park Construction has Started!
After a decade of delays and broken promises by the former Liberal Government, I am pleased to announce that work to build Peninsula Park is begining!
Wentworth Point residents have been waiting for this park for a decade. Despite promise after promise by the former Liberal Government, the park was never built.
That is why at the last State Election I committed to this long-awaited project, and I am thrilled the Minns Labor Government is delivering on this commitment.
Thank you for your support and tireless efforts throughout this community campaign.
Construction Underway for Peninsula Park!
Major earthworks are underway in Peninsula Park, as workers mobilise to demolish old concrete structures and lay the foundations for a vibrant new public space on Parramatta River.
We have the following updates to share:
-
Works are progressing well to deliver four hectares of waterfront public space at Wentworth Point;
-
Ground remediation and earthworks are nearly complete, with landscaping to begin next month;
-
A 450-metre sandstone seawall has been built to protect the shoreline and support tidal habitats; and
-
Construction of a new five-metre-wide shared path is also underway, improving access around the peninsula and to the ferry wharf.
