Melrose Park High School to be delivered as part of record public education spend
The Minns Labor Government is rebuilding public education.
We are spending $8.9 billion on new and upgraded schools. This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world class public education.
What we are building in Melrose Park
A new high school will be built in Melrose Park to accommodate the growing community. The school will be located at the corner of Hope Street and Wharf Road in Melrose Park. It will deliver classrooms and 3 support classrooms, a new library, outdoor learning spaces, landscaping and open play space.
The school is scheduled to open Term 1, 2027.
What we have to do now
Currently, the Government is taking the following steps to deliver the new high school:
- Finalising designs.
- Working with Parramatta City Council and other government agencies to identify what changes need to be made to transport will be made to accommodate the school.
- Transferring ownership of the site to the NSW Department of Education.
Key Facts
Construction is scheduled to start in mid-2025.
The multilevel buildings will be designed to make sure students can get to class on time.
We will make also make sure the masterplan protects the school's privacy from neighbouring high-density residential development.
