MELROSE PARK PUBLIC SCHOOL REDEVELOPMENT AND NEW PUBLIC SCHOOL
After 12 years of delays and broken promises by the former Liberal Government, the Melrose Park Public School redevelopment is now underway.
Delivering on our commitment to you, this redevelopment will deliver:
- 32 new classrooms;
- 3 support classrooms;
- A new large public preschool;
- New administrative spaces and upgrade to site services;
- A new library;
- New covered outdoor learning area (COLA);
- Outdoor learning spaces and play space;
- A new hall with a canteen; and
- Outside of school hours care (OOSH).
To support this redevelopment, a new purpose-built temporary school is installed on the current Melrose Park Public School site.
When the Minns Labor Government says that we want to ensure every student has access to a world-class education we mean it - and that’s proven right here in Melrose Park.
We are excited to confirm that the works to Stage 1 of the redevelopment project are nearly finished.
Students and staff will move into the new facilities on Monday 9 November 2026, weather permitting.
Over the next couple of weeks, the team will be putting the final touches to the ground floor of Buildings Q and N, relocating school resources and working with school staff to get everything ready to welcome the students into the new facilities for the remainder of Term 4 2026.
Next steps
- Finish internal fit out and external façade works to all buildings
- Move the existing school into the new school facilities during Term 4
- Install additional temporary fencing to include new construction zone once the school has
moved into the new facilities - Remove existing demountables from site
- Continue works to the Waratah Street carpark
